TPW turns 25! TPW turns 25! As the 2010/11 school year gets underway, the Television Production Workshop (TPW) class turns 25. In 1986, Mr. Saunders started the TPW class, and 25 years later the class is still a premiere offering at LOHS.
We are currently looking for TPW alumni! If that's you, PLEASE email Mr. Smith at rsmith@lakeorion.k12.mi.us. Our 25th Anniversary Celebration will take place on December 28, 2010.

You can still order your 2010 Memory DVD! You'll get over 90 minutes of highlights from the '09/10 school year. The DVD includes a special senior section, featuring highlights from graduation and the senior walkout. You can order with your credit card online, and the DVD will be shipped to you. Or, you can buy it in-person at the school's Main Office.
All pre-orders were made available starting Monday, June 28th, at the high school's Main Office.

Trick! The end of the year brings "awards season" for broadcast/video programs around the state and country. Our students were fortunate enough to win over 30 individual awards in the current school year, including 2 national scholarships. In addition, WDBC was awarded the "Spartan" for a third consecutive year, recognizing our program among the top in the state of Michigan. During the month of March, Ms. Kimmel temporarily moved out of her teaching position and replaced Mr. Smith while he was out on paternity leave. Ms. Kimmel did an outstanding job of leading the Dragon Broadcasting program, and the students didn't miss a beat. Many thanks to Ms. Kimmel for a job well done!
A busy February
February 2010 was a busy month for our students. Contest deadlines, the Special Olympics basketball game, and the Snowcoming Assembly were all part of a full month. Check out our pictures to see more photos of the crew in action; look for the TPW "set".

The application deadline for the 2010-11 Television Production Workshop has now passed.
In early December 2009, the TPW class made their annual trip to Detroit's PBS (Channel 56-WTVS) to volunteer during their winter membership drive. Check out more photos of our trip HERE.
The long-anticipated premiere of LO-AM online is here! LO-AM is Lake Orion High School's live daily newscast, and we will now regularly upload our daily episodes. You can expect to see them posted within 24 hours of the first airing of most episodes. So, if you're a parent and want to learn more about what's happening in our school, or if you're a student a you miss an episode, you can watch over and over again online!
This is your chance to relive the Teacher Dance, the athlete introductions, the competitive games, and the court presentations. Order your Homecoming Assembly DVD while supplies last!
