This spring, Channel One (a CBS-produced national newscast shown in thousands of middle & high schools) and the producers of "Super 8" offered a 3-minute film contest to all Channel One student viewers. The results of the contest have been announced, and a member of our LOHS video/broadcast program was named the GRAND PRIZE WINNER! Junior Jonathan D'Ambrosio's "The Blue and Gray" was selected as the top video, and we've been told film/tv producer J.J. Abrams personally chose Jon's film! Jon wins a Mac computer, Ipad2, and a camcorder. Plus, he was mentioned on Channel One, MTV is running a quick spot about him, and his film was shown at the local AMC Theater. You can also see the film here:

Lake Orion High School's daily live newscast, LO-AM, was recently named the "Best Newscast" in the state by the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association! Dragon Broadcasting founder Brett Saunders and current instructor Roger Smith recently made a surprise visit to WWJ AM950's Greg Bowman. Greg was a Lake Orion student when Brett began the Dragon Broadcast program in the early 1970s. He's been at Detroit's WWJ for two decades and hosts the 10am-3pm weekday shift on the all-news station. On April 7, Greg knew someone was coming to observe him while he was on-air, but he got quite a surprise when he discovered it was his former teacher, the man who inspired him to enter the broadcasting field!
Watch Our Shows Online! You can watch our programs online! LO-AM (our daily live broadcast) and Dragon Digest (a monthly interview program) are both uploaded regularly.
